What a defensive piece! It's interesting to me how we used to think of tech as leading the charge and setting new standards, and now we've evolved to a place where a CMO's first rationale is "nobody else does it, and it would take me more work to do so". The second rationale, around nuance and equity, is more compelling but you didn't lead with that! There's been a decent amount of credible research done on pay transparency and the impact it has on the *types* of candidates who apply that I'm surprised not to see mentioned here. To each their own but I do think a) not publishing salaries definitely impacts the type of candidates you'll see - which you say you don't care about b) you've missed a chance in this piece to fully explore the topic versus justify yourself.
